U-BT Cluj-Napoca's Strategic Business Moves Propel Club to European Prominence

U-BT Cluj-Napoca is redefining Romanian basketball, climbing from the FIBA Europe Cup to a competitive force in the EuroCup over the past five years.

Guided by General Manager Branko Cuic, the club’s progress is rooted in strong relationships and transparent leadership.

Crucially, its partnership with Banca Transilvania, the region’s largest bank, has brought financial stability and accelerated growth.

The club’s impressive home arena, BTarena, draws over 7,500 fans per game—leading EuroCup attendance for three straight seasons.

Despite a hard-fought loss to Valencia Basket in the 2025 EuroCup quarterfinals, aspirations remain high.

U-BT Cluj-Napoca will join the ABA League in 2025/2026, promising even fiercer competition and new opportunities.

The club’s renowned Basketball Academy nurtures 600 junior athletes, though retaining local talent is a constant challenge.

With ongoing investment in youth and a bold business vision, U-BT Cluj-Napoca continues to shape the future of European basketball.

Wizz Air Marks Milestone with 3 Million Passengers on Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca to London Luton Routes

Wizz Air has surpassed the milestone of 3 million passengers on its Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca routes to London Luton Airport, underscoring its influence in connecting Romania and the United Kingdom through low-cost travel.

Since 2007, steady growth has fueled increased flight frequencies—now 18 weekly from Bucharest and 14 from Cluj-Napoca—providing travelers with flexible, affordable options for both business and leisure.

The airline’s expansion in Romania is evident, with 19 aircraft at seven local airports and over 600 crew, supporting jobs and connecting 18 countries across 119 routes.

Cluj-Napoca’s evolution as a key business hub strengthens these travel ties, as the city saw a fourfold surge in modern office leases during 2024, attracting major firms and dropping vacancy rates to 11%.

Wizz Air’s growth directly supports regional development, offering more opportunities for businesses and travelers while enhancing Romania’s global connectivity.
